We employed JW Dickinson to construct a small single storey extension and reconfigure the ground floor of a Jesmond terraced house to accommodate a downstairs WC/shower and new open plan kitchen/dining room/snug. James took time to understand the project; contribute his suggestions and even arranged… Read More for me to view similar jobs he had already completed. His team are friendly and very capable. Communication was excellent and, if a job was not up to the standard expected by James, whose attention to detail is legendary, it was rectified. Where elements of the job were not part of the contract, he was able to recommend others - he knows everyone. The plans I provided were not of a good enough standard to be relied upon which, plus some naivety on my part as to the level of detail required in the specification, lead to more ‘extras’ than I would have liked ideally. Any minor challenges during the construction were handled calmly and politely and snagging issues at the end of the project were all attended to until everything was ticked off. Highly recommend and delighted with the finished project.

James and his team have recently completed an internal project in our Edwardian home. We are delighted with the results. Communication with James was excellent throughout; he thoroughly explained each phase, set clear expectations and was always available to sit down over a cup of tea to answer any questions… Read More we had. James was transparent with the costings / timeline and all work was completed on time. The team arrived on time every day (there weren’t any no-show days). They were a great bunch, kept the area clean and organised and went above and beyond. The quality of materials used and attention to detail made a huge difference to the finished product. If you're looking for a builder who combines skill, reliability, and integrity, look no further.

We recently approached James and the team at J W Dickinson to help with a wide range of renovations to our early 20th Century house in Heaton. There is nothing that this team cannot help with - we had to have our roof replaced (and our neighbours now all have roof envy), have undertaken major remodelling… Read More of our bathroom and other works including electrical reconfiguration and refinishing floors amongst others. As an Architect myself I have pretty exacting standards (sorry James!) but the team delivered on everything. I couldn’t recommend James and the team more - everyone is clearly an expert at what they do and James’ extensive knowledge and attention to detail is second to none. We are so chuffed with the work - massive thanks to you all.

I needed some repointing work done at the rear of my property as I was getting damp due to water ingress. James came out promptly and surveyed the work required and provided a well priced quote. It took a bit of time to get a date set for the work to take place but for me this is a good sign as a busy… Read More tradesman is a sign of a good tradesman as he is obviously inundated with work. The work was completed to a high standard and on schedule despite challenging weather conditions. I would recommend James and his team to anyone else looking for building works to be completed.

James was great to interact with, very responsive before and during the project. The team delivered top quality work, they were very friendly and professional. James is a very proactive and communicative project manager, who pays close attention to the small but important details of the project he's working on. This applies at every stage of the build right from even before the work starts - protecting the driveway of the house with plastic sheeting and chipboard,… Read More and the woodblock hallway floor with rigid plastic - to power washing the paths and driveway afterwards, and sending cleaners to clean the whole house - not just the part his company have been working on. James and his staff do all they can to minimise the disruption and dirt inside the house, and James himself is happy to give advice as well as practical help and to share useful contacts throughout. He leads a team of very trustworthy, hard working and skilled professionals, and I would not hesitate to recommend the organisation to anyone considering doing work on their property.

Totally delighted with our new kitchen/extension carried out by JWD! James is courteous and a great communicator & project manager. He always allowed plenty of time for us to ask questions which is crucial from a customer perspective. He focussed on finding helpful solutions as the building work progressed and always provided updates throughout the project. His team are friendly and totally trustworthy. Highly recommended. We had a Garage and above garage extension plus internal refurbishment. Very happy with the whole process and quality of the end finish. Done on time and on budget.

Flawless. James and his team were very professional, hard working and their work was of a very high standard. They salvaged and reused as much of the original features of the property and were easy to get along with they did everything properly building control and architects, invoices and staged payments he has held of his last payment until all my snagging list is complete. Many thanks and will strongly recommend.

James and his team did an excellent job. The project was well planned and required skills coordinated at appropriate times. He is very tidy and works to a high standard of finish. James himself is very personable and easy to have a two way conversation on any improvements or changes that occur during the project. We are a very happy client.

One of three firms recommended to us by our architect were JW Dickinson and we are pleased we chose them.We cannot praise JW Dickinson enough for the kitchen/diner extension and utility room they built onto our bungalow. We were delighted we did, as the project looks fabulous and his knowledge of construction is second to none.We were always updated on progress, which made life easier for ourselves. Every evening the site was cleaned up and the team went extra miles to ensure they completed to the deadline. This is a fantastic building company who I would recommend to everyone.
